À庴ÇÏ(íåܹù¾)/Pyoung-Ha Chang
Abstract
Three cases of pulmonary tuberculosis with formation of cystic cavities and a case of
openly and pathologically healed tuberculous cavity are presented.
The persistance of a smooth and thin walled cavity in the roentgenogram with the
disappearance of tubercle bacilli from the sputum and gastric washings over six months
are the lumen for the open-negative syndrome and free of necrotic contents or pyogenic
membrane in the lumen of the Cavity and transformed cavity wall into a layer of
connective tissue are the criteria for the pathological open healing.
The choice of whether these cavitary lesions are to be treated surgically or observed
on a long term medical program must be individualized on the merits and status of each
case.
